Engineering Intern (Mechanical)

This position is 100% onsite at our Bohemia, NY office.

The Salary range for this position is $22.00-$25.00 per hour.

This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License.

Position Summary:

This is an internship position for the organization’s Engineering Department. The primary role of an Engineering Intern is to gain hands-on experience working alongside our engineering team. You’ll be involved in designing board and box-level products. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting and develop essential skills in hardware development.

Key Position Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems.
  • Support the creation of component selection and documentation packages.
  • Participate in testing and qualification of mechanical prototypes and systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical issues.
  • Document analysis procedures/results and present findings.
  • Ability to research, analyze and present various data information.

Qualifications:

  • Problem-Solving: Solve mechanical and thermal challenges at the box and/or board level.
  • Design: Working knowledge of box-level and board-level mechanical design, with consideration given to shock and vibration requirements. Understanding of heat conduction and thermal radiation in box-level systems is a plus.
  • Production Support: Able to create and interpret engineering drawings in accordance with accepted industry standards. Familiarity of different manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Working knowledge of IP (Ingress Protection) ratings as they apply to board and box-level products.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with SolidWorks preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Work Hours:

o During School Hours: Minimum 16 hours Weekly

o Summer Hours: 40 hours Weekly
