Jr. Software Engineer

This position is 100% onsite at our Bohemia, NY office.

The compensation range for this role is $80,000-$100,000 annually.

This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a department of state or commercial license.

Position Summary:

DDC is currently seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our team! We are looking for engineers to participate in the exciting field of leading-edge Communications Technology for Aerospace and similar applications. DDC already provides many high reliability solutions for Aerospace, both Commercial and Military, and is looking to expand its leadership in this area by developing several forward-looking products and solutions. These products and solutions will lead the way for developing and deploying future Aerospace networks.

Key Position Accountabilities:

  • Design (and Develop): Perform original and innovative software design and distill large- scale designs into architectural elements that facilitate the division of design work to teams of two or more engineers.
  • Planning: Develop plans, schedules, and identify resources required to develop products from market requirement through product release. Identify risk areas and develop contingency plans to eliminate or mitigate risk that could result in schedule delays or failure to meet specification or design plan requirements.
  • Maintenance: Provide support for maintaining existing products by investigating and resolving defect reports, creating documentation, and creating and releasing new versions of software packages.
  • Continuous Improvement: Take the initiative to research, develop, propose, evaluate and/or implement new methods, processes, techniques, tools, components, or technology that improve quality, timeliness and/or performance of DDC’s products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or working towards completion of Degree in Computer Engineering or similar major.
  • Intern Work experience in Software Engineering (development methodologies, reusability, modularity, and maintainability)
  • Experienced in design and development of software in C/C++ desirable
  • Knowledge of software configuration management (SCM)
  • Software design and development experience with RTOS a plus (e.g., VxWorks)
  • Experience in developing applications and drivers in Linux and Windows
