Business Unit Manager

Department: Sales (Headquarters)
Location: Bohemia, NY

This position is onsite at our Bohemia, NY office with travel required.

This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License.

Base salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $200,000 annually, depending on experience, plus annual bonus.

Position Summary:

The Business Unit Manager is responsible for the results of the Unit by utilizing the value generation strategy, including value-based pricing, profitable new business, and productivity resulting in consistent year over year growth while exceeding customer expectations. The Business Unit Manager reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and is a forward, customer-facing role.

The majority of the Business Unit Manager’s time is spent on customer-facing activities and includes customer relations, value-based pricing, contract review and negotiations, new business development, and business unit bookings.

The scope of this position includes Profit and Loss accountability and leadership of a cross functional Business Unit Team (consisting of Sales, Operations and Engineering). This is a key development position for promotion to senior management positions.

Key Position Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for achieving Bookings, Sales, and EBITDA objectives
  • Drive consistent value creation through value-based pricing, profitable new business, and productivity
  • Develop and execute a Business Unit strategy resulting in year over year growth
  • Lead a cross-functional Business Unit Team
  • Implement initiatives to continuously improve the team responsiveness to customer/business needs
  • Prepare and execute a comprehensive Annual Business Unit Plan
  • Develop and present Quarterly business reviews to executive management
  • Develop positive relationships with customers through travel and face-to-face meetings
  • Responsible for contract review and negotiations
  • Develop a performance-oriented work environment with high accountability
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Educational/Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited university or college
  • Technical degree preferred but not required
  • 10 years total experience which includes roles of increasing responsibility
  • Experience leading direct reports preferred but not required
  • Experience leading a cross functional team preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • The Business Unit Manager will manage a team of cross-functional employees or departments and be responsible for performance management, hiring, and team development.

Work Environment:

  • This position is typically based in an office environment, though travel may be required for customer visits, industry events, corporate presentations, or product-related meetings.
